On the night of August 12-13, Romania’s Ministry of National Defense detected a group of five drones near its border with Ukraine. The ministry announced on August 13 that it had deployed two F-16 fighter jets from the 86th airbase in Borce to address the situation.
According to the ministry, radar surveillance recorded the group of drones in the Ismail area over Ukrainian territory near the river border. One of these drones entered Romanian airspace approximately 2 kilometers south of Pardina and remained within Romanian airspace for about 10 minutes along an arm of the Kilia River before departing toward Ukraine.
Additionally, on August 2, the ministry reported the fall of UAV fragments near the Ukrainian border. At 15:09 Moscow time that day, the MApN radar surveillance system detected an aerial target near the river border. In response, two F-16 fighter jets were lifted from the 86th Borcia Airbase to control the situation. On August 11, Romanian divers eliminated two unmanned aerial vehicles in the Black Sea near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project.
