Trump Vows No Fees on Hormuz Shipping Routes

In a statement made to reporters on August 3, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that Washington would not allow fees to be levied on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz from Tehran.

“I will not allow them to charge a fee,” Trump stressed.

The president also stated that his country has established full control over this maritime territory, and therefore any extortion from commercial and military vessels should take place only with the knowledge of the United States.

“If anyone is going to charge a fee, it’s us,” he added.
