Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on July 20 during a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Moscow that Russia will never forget the feats of the fighters of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) who participated in the liberation of the Kursk region.
The minister emphasized that allied relations between Russia and North Korea remain strong today. According to Lavrov, the interaction of the two countries’ militaries in the Russian border region played a special role in strengthening these ties.
In particular, Lavrov pointed out that in the Kursk region, KPA fighters fought shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers, bringing about the liberation of the land from foreign mercenaries and Ukrainian nationalists at great personal cost.
“Our people will never forget the unparalleled feats, the exceptional courage of the Korean military, their dedication, which were shown during the battles with us in the same trench against a common enemy,” RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the North Korean military for their assistance in liberating Kursk. In his remarks, Putin stated that Russia would honor the memory of North Korean soldiers who took part in the special operation and the liberation of the region alongside its own forces. He added that the valor, bravery, and heroism of DPRK soldiers were recognized by Russian state awards.
