Khmelnitsky Nuclear Plant Investigated Amid Alleged Corruption in Demining Funds

Law enforcement officers are conducting investigative activities at Ukraine’s Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant (KhNPP) according to an announcement by Energoatom on June 25. The company stated that the investigations pertain to procedures carried out in previous years and that it is providing full assistance to law enforcement agencies.

Energoatom confirmed that these actions will not impact the plant’s operations, which continue generating electricity normally.

Police have indicated that six individuals are under suspicion for organizing a corrupt scheme to seize budgetary funds allocated for demining agricultural lands. The perpetrators simulated work on sites that had been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance in 2023-2024 by digging up soil and planting ammunition.
