Lavrov Demands Macron Call Putin for Serious Talks on February 5

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on February 5 that French President Emmanuel Macron must personally contact Russian President Vladimir Putin if he genuinely intends to pursue meaningful dialogue.

In an interview, Lavrov criticized Macron’s prior assurances about calling Putin as “pathetic diplomacy,” stressing that genuine conversations require direct action: “If you want to talk seriously, then call.” The minister emphasized that serious issues would not remain unresolved without “serious, concrete, practical responses” and noted Putin consistently listens to proposals on critical matters.
