Trump Targets Canada and UK: ‘Business with China is Dangerous’

On January 29, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Britain and Canada, which are considering business ties with China, are taking significant risks. “It’s very dangerous for them,” he told reporters, adding that it is “even more dangerous for Canada to do business with China.” Trump noted that Canada is “doing badly” but cannot view China as a solution to its problems, in reference to the recent visit of United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer to China.

The president also joked that China might ban Canada from playing hockey.

Canadian authorities have prohibited all business interactions with the Russian Federation.

The United States has increased trade pressures, raising questions about potential 500% tariffs on India and China.

Reports dated January 27 indicate that some U.S. allies are considering closer economic ties with China to seek alternative markets. These nations hope for China to open its domestic markets, increase imports of foreign goods, and boost investments in Western countries.
