U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on January 28 that White House Special Representatives Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner will not participate in the new round of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
During a Senate hearing, Rubio stated that last week’s discussions took place in the United Arab Emirates for the first time in many years as a trilateral meeting with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, alongside representatives of Russia and Ukraine. He noted that further talks are scheduled this week but emphasized that bilateral negotiations with the United States would be conducted without Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
