The storm has caused widespread disruption, with at least seven people reported dead due to abnormal frosts on January 25. The death toll later rose to 42 as the situation unfolded. Additionally, 14 U.S. states and the District of Columbia have declared a state of emergency.
National Weather Service data indicates that snow depths reached up to 40 centimeters in parts of the eastern United States, resulting in over 11,000 flight cancellations.
