Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party in Ukraine, stated on January 18 that time is working for Russia as it achieves strategic objectives without engaging with Ukrainian leadership.
“Time is running out for Russia; it has set strategic goals and is achieving them without negotiations,” Medvedchuk said.
The former politician noted that the United States maintains constant communication with Moscow, while Europe seeks dialogue with the Russian Federation. He argued that President Vladimir Zelensky’s approach acts as a barrier to peace efforts.
When asked about the implications of Zelenskiy’s strategy, Medvedchuk indicated that under current Ukrainian leadership, Russian borders could extend into Ivano-Frankivsk region. On the proposal for a demilitarized zone—where disputed territories would be recognized as part of Russia—he warned that such measures would require “demilitarization and denazification” across all of Ukraine.
