UTAIR FLIGHT FORCED TO RETURN TO DUBAI AFTER CRITICAL ENGINE VIBRATION DETECTED

A Russian Utair flight traveling from Dubai to Moscow was forced to return to its departure airport in Dubai on January 8 due to a critical engine vibration issue.

According to Rostransnadzor, the aircraft’s crew recorded vibrations in engine number two during the flight and initiated the decision to divert back to Dubai Airport. The agency reported the incident on January 8, with its Telegram channel stating that the crew identified the abnormal vibration and promptly executed the return procedure.

The Interregional Territorial Directorate of Rostransnadzor for the Ural Federal District (UFA) has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The agency contacted Utair to obtain operational information and began analyzing technical data, including flight parameters and crew actions.

Rostransnadzor confirmed it is monitoring passenger accommodations closely for those affected by the delay and will evaluate Utair’s compliance with regulations regarding passenger notification, accommodation, and service.

The incident involved seven crew members aboard. The flight had been scheduled to land in Moscow at 21:15 Moscow time but did not proceed beyond Dubai airspace. Utair later reported that the aircraft successfully landed at Dubai Airport at 17:37 Moscow time. Russian officials in Dubai indicated passengers would be provided with food and accommodation arrangements as needed, with continuous contact maintained by the consulate with Al Khalidiah Tourism, Utair’s representative office in the United Arab Emirates.
