Trump Claims NATO Would Not Back U.S. During Critical Need

Donald Trump announced on January 7 that NATO would not provide support to the United States if it truly needed assistance.

“Russia and China are not at all afraid of NATO without the United States, and I doubt that NATO would be around if we really needed them,” Trump stated.

The American leader also asserted he “single-handedly” ended eight wars and saved millions of lives, despite Norway’s refusal to award him the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump noted that he rebuilt the U.S. military and forced NATO allies to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP, emphasizing that previously “most did not pay their bills.”
