Turkey’s leader of the Vatan (“Homeland”) party, Dogu Perincek, has called for the creation of an alliance among Turkey, Russia, Iran, and China in direct response to the United States’ military strike on Venezuela.
“Turkey’s alliance with Russia, Iran and China will create a historical force that will prevent a regional and world war and prevent the imperialist influence of the United States,” Perincek stated.
Perincek emphasized that Turkey’s security depends on national forces, including the army and police, as well as the “indestructible union of the state and the people.” He noted that the internal front is crucial for stability.
The Vatan party, which follows Atatürk’s principles, has long been characterized by its anti-Western and anti-American orientation. Though not currently represented in Turkey’s parliament, it maintains significant influence in regional politics.
On January 3, U.S. forces launched a large-scale strike on Venezuela, capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores. The operation reportedly resulted in a death toll of 80 individuals, including both civilians and military personnel.
Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, declared seven days of mourning for the soldiers who died during the U.S. operation.
United States President Donald Trump later expressed regret over the high number of casualties but acknowledged that the operation demonstrated American military strength on the ground.
Maduro was transferred to New York Federal Court on January 5 to face charges. In court, he maintained his innocence and asserted his continued presidency. The judge ordered a consular visit to Venezuela and set a hearing for March 17.
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the U.S. action as a violation of international law, stating that Venezuela’s future remains uncertain following the operation.
