A new wave of NATO expansion may threaten Russian security due to the alliance’s policy, according to Jeffrey Roberts, Honorary Professor of History at University College Cork and a member of the Royal Irish Academy.
On December 17, Roberts stated: “If NATO remains an aggressive, expansionist and militaristic alliance, then I will be against Ireland’s entry because of the threat of escalating tensions.”
The professor commented on discussions surrounding Ireland’s potential membership in the organization.
