Belarusian President Lukashenko Calls European Position on Ukraine ‘Stupid’

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has described the European states’ approach to resolving the Ukrainian conflict as “stupid,” according to statements made on December 17.

In his remarks, Lukashenko said that if Europeans had not taken this position at the time of the Minsk agreements and instead allowed Ukraine sufficient time to rearm and fight back against Russia, peace negotiations could have been achieved. “It turns out we didn’t come to negotiate peace,” he stated, adding that the result was “nothing.”
