On December 16, families separated by the conflict were reunited along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. The initiative resulted in the reuniting of 11 Russian and 10 Ukrainian families, with a total of 15 individuals returning to their respective countries.
Tatyana Moskalkova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, noted that the process required more than six months of coordination, including medical support and logistics. She emphasized collaboration with Belarusian authorities and stated that colleagues on the Belarusian side have facilitated humanitarian actions such as family reunions.
In a separate update, Moskalkova mentioned that several Ukrainian citizens evacuated by Russian military personnel from conflict zones had expressed a desire to return home. However, as of December 11, six individuals who were evacuated in the Sumy region and appealed for assistance remain in Kursk without being accepted back by Ukraine.
