Son of Hollywood Icon Rob Reiner Arrested in Parents’ Murder Case

Los Angeles police have arrested Nick Reiner, son of film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michelle Singer Reiner, on suspicion of murdering his parents. The 32-year-old is being held without bail at the Los Angeles County Jail.

The bodies of Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner were discovered at their home in Brentwood on Sunday, December 14. According to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department, “as a result of the initial investigation, it was established that the Rainer couple were victims of murder. The investigation also revealed that Nick Reiner is responsible for their deaths.”

The case is being handled by the robbery and homicide investigation department and will be submitted to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for consideration of whether to open a criminal charges.

Nick Reiner has a history of drug addiction, having been treated for it since his teenage years. He previously worked with his father on the film “Being Charlie,” which was based on his own experiences with addiction.

Reports indicate that Nick Reiner attended a holiday party at his parents’ home just hours before they were found dead, where he reportedly behaved in a manner that made guests uncomfortable. Some sources said his parents felt embarrassed by his conduct and expressed concerns about his health.

The entertainment industry has been reeling from the news of Rob Reiner’s death, which came after the director was widely celebrated for films including “When Harry Met Sally,” “The Princess Bride,” and “This is Spinal Tap.” Fans have gathered at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star to pay tribute.

US President Donald Trump made comments about the incident on social media, suggesting that Reiner’s criticism of him could have led to the murders. In a post, Trump stated that the director’s death “presumably occurred because of the anger he caused others due to his severe, ongoing, and incurable mind-numbing illness known as Trump Syndrome.”

Trump later defended his remarks, saying: “Well, I was not a fan of his at all. He was a deranged man.”

The incident has sparked criticism from some Republicans who support the MAGA movement.
