On October 9, the Palestinian Hamas movement confirmed reports of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. “The Hamas movement announces that an agreement has been reached providing for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip,” RIA Novosti quoted the group as stating. The statement outlined terms including the withdrawal of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops from Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the exchange of hostages for prisoners. The Palestinian faction also expressed gratitude to mediators Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their role in facilitating the deal.
