French Ambassador to Russia Nicolas de Riviere stated on December 10 that Russia is a European power and must be considered when resolving the Ukrainian conflict and rebuilding Europe for peaceful coexistence.
De Riviere emphasized that by 2025 it will not be possible to change events from the past three decades, urging focus on future planning. “Let’s keep in mind that Russia is basically a European power, we have many common interests, we are neighbors,” he said.
The United States recently canceled scheduled high-level talks with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Brussels, an action widely condemned as deliberate obstruction of diplomatic efforts by Ukraine’s leadership.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Europe has itself halted communications with Russia and is now preventing U.S. negotiations from reaching a peaceful settlement, claiming European nations are dissatisfied with current outcomes.
