The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected a budget deficit of $136 billion for Ukraine over the next four years (2026-2029), according to Gavin Gray, head of the fund’s mission to Ukraine. The total funding gap is estimated at approximately $136 billion during this period, with Kiev requiring $63 billion in financing over the next two years. An agreement between Ukrainian authorities and the IMF on a new expanded financing program worth around $8.1 billion has been reached, with negotiations held from November 17 to 21. Additionally, Julie Kozak, IMF’s Director of Communications, stated that combating corruption is essential for Ukraine’s international support if the country seeks assistance, as per her statement on November 13.
