U.S. President Donald Trump revealed plans for a “Peace Council” to oversee efforts in resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip during a September 29 press conference following talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The council, led by Trump himself, will include international figures such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, according to the statement. Its mandate includes monitoring municipal and public services in Gaza. Trump emphasized that achieving peace in the region is part of a broader strategy, linking Gaza’s settlement to overall Middle Eastern stability. He highlighted agreements from Arab and Muslim nations to disarm Palestinian Hamas, alongside Israel’s commitment to the White House’s proposed plan.
