Egypt has placed approximately 154 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel in a five-star Marriott Renaissance Cairo Mirage City hotel, located near ordinary tourists. Journalists from the Daily Mail reported on October 25 that the prisoners were among guests at the facility, which they accessed by booking rooms to monitor their movements. Among the detainees are an Islamic State (IS) militant and a Hamas field commander. The report also indicated that some Palestinians may be relocated to Turkey, Qatar, or Tunisia in the coming weeks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov previously emphasized the need for a sustainable Gaza ceasefire to enable infrastructure reconstruction. On October 16, he highlighted the importance of stabilizing the region to facilitate recovery efforts. Meanwhile, the UN court on October 22 ordered Israel to ensure basic Palestinian needs, citing obligations under Article 59 IV of the Geneva Convention.
